We currently have a number of families where the children are just beginning and in some cases parents coming back after many years. Currently some of these parents have become so enthusiastic that they have formed their own teams for night tennis and Senior Saturday competition. It’s a great fun sport.
Our Coach Marcos Ahumada is totally dedicated to our club, and is an accredited Tennis Victoria Coach.
Marcos has many years experience coaching beginners to experienced players and all abilities players.
Keys to the courts are available for members and their families to come down and have a hit. See our calendar page for availability of courts.
Knoxfield Tennis Club Coach, Marcos Ahumada offers the Hot Shots program to children aged 5-12 years old.
Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official kids’ starter program for children aged 5-12 years old.
Hot Shots is the fun way for kids to learn how to play tennis. Smaller courts, nets, racquets and low-compression balls make learning easy and gives younger players the chance to serve, rally and score right from the first time they play.
Through the use of modified court sizes and low-compression balls, kids learn to serve, rally and score in a game that is appropriate to their developmental needs.
Children progress through the three developmental stages:
At each stage, ball compression and court size increases in line with players’ development. This gradual progression improves players’ skills and prepares them to play on a full-size court with a yellow ball.
At Hot Shots, children will:
•play with modified equipment that is appropriate to their age, size and ability
•meet new friends, have fun and stay healthy
•develop new skills and coordination
•have the opportunity to play in challenge events where all players receive a participation gift
•be presented with a T-shirt when they enrol for one term of Tennis Hot Shots
•graduate to playing on a full-size court through the “learning to play” pathway
