KNOXFIELD TENNIS CLUB HISTORY
Formed in 1972 our club started off as 3 Red Porous courts situated in what was then a paddock, with no clubhouse or other amenities. As the suburb of Knoxfield and the popularity of tennis grew it wasn’t long before 3 more courts and a clubhouse were added.
Like today, right from its inception the club was been managed by a committee of volunteers appointed by its members at the Annual General Meeting.
Family participation has always been a primary focus of our club and this has now been expanded to include people of “all abilities”. Every effort is made to integrate the latter into all club activities.
Membership peaked in the 80’s and the early 90’s when we had around 300 active members. As often happens our membership began to fall as the younger people moved away and for some time our club struggled.
The demographics of our area are now changing again with many young families moving in, a new revitalised committee and an enthusiastic coach, our club is now very much on an upward trend.
